Believers' Convention 2022 (DAY 3 - Evening Session)

Date: Tuesday, 9th August  2022

The theme of this Convention is a question that calls for a very deep search. God is a mystery and there are mysteries that the Lord has blessed the Church with, for the Church to prosper with. The allocations of these mysteries are the milk, the meat and the strong meat of the word. God is a mystery and the instrument required to explore this mystery is the heart (Col. 2:2).

God is an embodiment of secrets but He does not want to remain mysterious; He wants men to understand Him. The essence of creation is for men to be able to point to God (Rom. 1:20). However, creation fell into corruption and is no longer able to understand who God is. As a result of that, God had to introduce another medium to make creation point to Him again – He had to collate scriptures for that purpose.

Scriptures are gifts to us. When corruption caught up with creation, God made scriptures available. There are many people that wrote the scriptures but by the help of the Spirit. God blessed those who put the letters together to select scriptures that would make men seek God.

“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets…” (Heb. 1:1). Abraham was a prophet because he interpreted some parts of God’s secrets with his life. God used Abraham to foreshadow and live a life that could be written for us who will live in the end of time, so that by seeing it, we would run to lay hold on something that has been prepared for us.

Based on Lucifer’s make, he was positioned at a high level before he fell. The level he had on his inside was that of one who saw the ark of covenant. Lucifer must have been fellowshipping with the higher angels in heaven. The fall of Lucifer brought a realization to the heavenly angels; they saw that they were corruptible. Lucifer is a being that was built to last, but suddenly he turned and this generated a fear in heaven – a fear that echoed into everlastingness.

The fall of Lucifer was necessary for them to realise their own kind of person and the kind of person God is.  Beyond the fear that the fall caused in heaven, the angels must have suddenly begun to question who God really is and why He could not be tempted (Jam. 1:13). What makes God up is His heart; that is where all His natures and character come from. The kind of soul that God possessed was what Lucifer did not have.

God has a kind of mind and heart.  “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” (1 Cor. 2:11). God’s secrets are hidden in His soul; who He is founts from His soul. The essence of the New Covenant is the engagement of the heart and the mind. When our hearts and minds have been fully engaged, God will be our God and we would be His people.

The Lord told Samuel to anoint the next king of Israel after Saul. Samuel saw men of great physique and believed that they were the Lord’s anointed, but God rejected Samuel’s choice and said, “...for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart” (1 Sam. 16:7).  This connotes to us that God is a God of the heart. One man in the Old Testament that made great progress in the heart was David. This is why God boasted about David and called him a man after His heart (Acts 13:22).

God does not look at the outward of a man. He considers the issues that constitute the heart because a man is as he thinks in his heart (Pro. 23:7). So, God is what He is in His heart. The gain in doing Christ is that we would have fleshy tables of the heart that can now receive higher things: this is the end product of faith, hope and charity (2 Cor. 3:3). If God wants to create a man that has His image and likeness, He will look at the heart.

Lucifer thought he knew God, but he actually did not know the heart of God. He was only interested in ascending to be like God and God saw this as vainglory (Isa. 14:13-14). Lucifer was looking for reputation; He felt God had reputation, but that is not the kind of person God is. There is a way God is set or arranged; there is also a way that angels are set.

What determines the kind of heart is the law of God. God is a law; the heart of God is an arrangement of laws. That is why He hates anything that is lawless. Adam is a law that God wrote; Eve is also a law that God wrote. In the same manner God is a law, as such, He can be learnt. God gives Himself by giving His laws. We cannot know God until we have arrived at the law of the everlasting. Once we arrive at this place, everyone will know the Lord (Heb. 8:10-11).

What will reveal God are the laws of the everlasting God. God will start training one from the least law, to the point where the law of everlasting life is within the heart (Psa. 40:7-8).

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." (Matt. 7:21). To enter the Kingdom is to be the kind of person that God desires. We cannot separate the laws of God from His will because His laws reveal His will. When we are taught His law, we receive His will which is His pleasure. God is an embodiment of laws and they can be learnt. We do not start from the pinnacle of the law but from the basics.

"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  [2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." (Rom. 8:1-2). Those who have no condemnation are those whose lives are not governed or informed by the flesh. They are those who have received the law of God who is Spirit. A law has to be introduced to help us escape from flesh to spirit. This law is the basis that will help us connect to who God is. The Godhead wants to transform us to be godly. To be godly is the beginning of the journey of being like God. What we need to learn to achieve this is the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

Satan is not stopping at just forming the world in us; he wants to form us to become like the antichrist and he will do so with a law. It is law versus law. God wants us to escape flesh. He is a Spirit, therefore we have to be introduced to the law of the Spirit; the law of the Spirit must be learnt. When we learn it, we must obey it. We need to ensure that we obey that which has been delivered to us for that is how we are to be made free (Rom. 6:17).

We need the ministry of revelation to see the law of God. We cannot access laws without revelation. The essence of the ministry of revelation is to search out things that are hidden. These things are unveiled by births and inspirations. When we use the basic laws of Christ, we receive freedom from conforming to this world. The world is a frame of mind. A worldly man is he that is carnally-minded. To be carnally-minded is the result of a mind that has been conditioned to think vain thoughts. When the things of God are brought to a carnal man, he treats it with profanity (Heb. 12:16).

Though this world has conformed men, God’s intention is to use the law of Christ to transform men (Rom. 12:2). Learning the law of the Spirit of life is to break us free from the world. Our freedom is what makes us spiritual because it is only a spiritually-minded man that can move into the next allocation, which is the law of God.

"And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them." (Rev. 11:11). The Spirit of life from God is different from the Spirit of life and peace. When we obey the law of the Spirit of life and peace, we will be made free and Christ will be formed in us (Gal. 4:19). The law of God is what Hebrews 8:9 calls "My covenant" – it is the law of salvation or the law of everlasting covenant. The law of God is opened by revelation.

No man can learn the law of God without a required meekness (James 1:21). We need a lot of meekness to move into the season of the law of God. The prerequisite for learning the law of God is that Christ must have been formed in us; we must have been made free from the world. The season of the laws of God is for altering our humanity. We are made into a kind of man that can abide. God has an abiding nature that cannot turn or be altered.  This is what the law of God, in the order of everlasting, does to a man.

The season of the law of God is the season of "Thou art the same and thy years shall not fail" (Heb. 1:12). The law of God is what is responsible for this nature of God. That same law is the law that we acquire when we receive the Spirit of life from God. This is what is called salvation – the ability to remain the same.

People have different levels and expressions of carnality. They find it difficult to change because the power for change is not constantly at work inside them; but God wants to change us with His laws until we are able to receive the law that will make us abide and remain.

Blessings!
